One patient with double lymphomas: simultaneous gastric MALT lymphoma and ileal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Multiple different lymphomas in a single person are very rare. The author herein reports the case of a 69- year-old Japanese woman with double gastrointestinal lymphoma. The patient presented with epigastralgia. Endoscopic examination revealed erosions and elevation of the gastric body and a large ulcerated tumor of the terminal ileum. Biopsies were obtained from these lesions. The gastric lesi...
متن کاملNon-MALT marginal zone lymphomas.
The concept of marginal zone B-cell lymphomas was developed in the 1990s for lymphomas whose cells originate from B lymphocytes normally present in a distinct anatomical location, the so-called ‘marginal zone’ (MZ). MZ has been described in the lymphoid organs—spleen and lymph nodes—and in nonlymphoid organs—mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) or non-mucosal tissue such as skin, orbit and ...
متن کاملCARMA1 and chromosomal translocations in extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphomas of MALT type or diffuse large B-cell lymphomas.
We analyzed the configuration of the CARMA1 gene, encoding a protein that closely interacts with BCL10 and MALT1, in a series of 120 extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphomas of MALT-type and 35 diffuse large B-cell lymphomas. Our study suggests that CARMA1 is not targeted by chromosomal translocations in these lymphoma entities.
متن کاملt(11;18)(q21;q21) is the most common translocation in MALT lymphomas.
BACKGROUND Low grade malignant lymphomas arising from mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) represent a distinct clinicopathological entity. The cytogenetic findings and molecular genetics of MALT lymphomas remain minimally defined. Cytogenetic studies infrequently constitute part of the diagnostic work-up of MALT lymphomas, most commonly due to small biopsy size and their extranodal localiz...
متن کاملThe management of nongastric MALT lymphomas.
The group of marginal zone B-cell lymphomas (MZL) comprises three different entities, extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (currently called MALT lymphoma), nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (previously known as monocytoid lymphoma), and splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (with or without circulating villous lymphocytes).[1-3] Primary splenic and no...
